Who Says Tea Towels Have To Be Boring?

Who Says Tea Towels Have To Be Boring?

One of the products I enjoy designing for the most are tea towels - they give me a lot of space to play with and I especially love making a lot of different illustrations to go on them (think a flock of birds, a collection of houseplants, a fright of ghosts).

Recently I've finished two new designs - one with a new horde of ghosts, and one featuring a flock of pigeons.

What makes these tea towels special (apart from the fact I design them) is that they're made in small batches in the UK using organic cotton - this means less air miles and less textile waste.

Display tea towels? When I'm finished with them on the stall I repurpose them to give a new lease of life - last year I did a collaboration with the lovely Little Rose Clothing to make them into bags! Keep your eyes peeled for this years collaboration with Crafts by Kate (I dropped the fabric off to her last week!)

Some of my favourite designs are the ones that are a challenge - the dinosaur tea towel in particular was tricky as the bones are difficult to get right, but nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing an illustration that gives you a bit of trouble. I also love designing the ghost ones - silly little guys are one of the best things to draw!
